Fire Prevention Associate

Basic Qualifications:

Basic computer skills Proficient with basic hand tools Ability to climb ladders and work from heights up to 25’ Proficient in forklift operation with the ability to obtain a forklift license Ability to work a full-time 40-hour schedule and overtime as required Basic knowledge of math, math equations and use of various measuring instruments Must be able to stand, crouch, kneel and work overhead for periods of time exceeding 4 hours Ability to meet specific vision requirements including but not limited to; close/distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus without a color differentiation deficiency

Work Environment:

The Fire Prevention Associate operates in various environments requiring PPE to be worn as outlined by EHS and OSHA. In this position, you will be exposed to working areas with various noise and weather conditions. During Oberlin cleanouts or issues involving the pit, you will be required to enter a confined space.

PPE requirements consist of, but are not limited to:

Metatarsal Shoes Safety Glasses Cut-Resistant Gloves Hearing Protection Hard Hat Other PPE as necessary depending on the area

This position reports to 1701 W. Main Street, Washington MO, 63090

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or GED required 2+ year of experience as a forklift operator required 1+ year of experience within a safety department preferred  1+ year of experience within a maintenance role preferred 2+ years of experience within a production environment preferred

 

Position Summary:

The Fire Prevention Associate will provide guidance and perform tasks related to Howmet’s operational and facility related fire prevention safety standards. The Fire Prevention Associate must be willing to work within the facility as a team player, supporting various areas of production & maintenance when necessary.  The Fire Prevention Associate is self-motivated and able to work under time constraints to meet production needs. 

Key Responsibilities:

Perform daily cleaning tasks surrounding the Oberlin machines, rooms and surrounding areas Maintain 5S standards in the Oberlin rooms & support the facilities overall 5S system, working on projects outside of the Oberlin rooms when requested  Perform routine spraybar changeout/cleanouts Transfer grinder swarf from bins to 55-gallon barrels regularly Empty swarf hoppers on the production floor as needed Ensure that swarf hopper bins are lightly saturated during the duration of the shift Perform weekly pressure washer cleaning of grinders and motor faces Oversee and assist in Oberlin pit cleanouts that consist of bucketing, scraping & being in a confined space for a duration of time in various weather elements Assist with material management when not maintaining the Oberlin & their rooms Assist with safety and environmental duties when necessary  Perform inventory management as needed Perform other duties as requested
