Team lead FinOps and Governance
The Team lead (FinOps and Governance) will be part of a global team to drive the financial excellence of our hybrid cloud environments, their governance framework and the cross-functional data management product. This role combines technical understanding of cloud platforms with a strong grasp of financial management and governance best practices along with clear vision on the use of data for managing operational efficiency. The ideal candidate has a strategic mindset, leadership experience, and a passion for cost optimization, accountability, and enabling scalable cloud usage across an enterprise.
As the Team Lead, you will head a cross-functional team responsible for managing cloud spend, establishing governance frameworks, and partnering with engineering, finance, and procurement teams to ensure value realization from cloud investments. You bring a balance of analytical rigor, technical fluency, and business acumen to support data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement in our cloud journey.
Task and Responsibilities:
Lead and develop a high-performing team focused on cloud FinOps, governance, and data management capabilities. Own the Cloud FinOps strategy, including cost optimization, budgeting, forecasting, and chargeback/showback processes. Establish and enforce cloud governance frameworks to ensure compliance, security, and efficient cloud usage. Collaborate with engineering, finance, procurement, and data teams to align financial and operational goals. Define and deliver the Data Management Product roadmap to enable high-quality, trusted, and accessible data across the organization. Drive the development of tools, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms for real-time visibility into cloud spend and operational data. Promote data-driven decision-making by enabling and governing metadata, data lineage, and data quality standards. Act as a thought leader on cloud financial accountability and data product innovation, bringing best practices and market trends into the organization.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in cloud financial operations, cloud governance, or cloud architecture roles. Proven experience leading teams in a technical or cross-functional domain. Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, optional: GCP) and their cost structures. Strong knowledge of FinOps principles and cloud governance frameworks. Experience with cloud cost management tools (e.g., CloudHealth, Apptio, Azure Cost Management). Experience designing and operating data products or data platforms (e.g., data lakes, catalogs, governance tools). Relevant certifications (e.g., FinOps Certified Practitioner, AWS Cloud Practitioner) are a plus.Competencies and Behaviors:
