Finishing Operator II

Responsible for operating finishing machines that involve more complex, computer controlled operations that require more elaborate setups than a Finisher I. Responsible to cut finished products with more complex geometry and shape requirements, small, tight tolerances or precision than an Finishing Operator I. Responsible for selecting machine tooling to be used, utilizing knowledge of machine and production requirements, adjusts production equipment/machinery set-up using hand or power tools. Responsible for moving machine controls to position and sets up work pieces and adjusts machines for pre-selected or self-determined operational settings. Observes machine operations to detect any problems; make necessary adjustments to correct problems. Responsible for loading and unloading material or work piece manually or with hoists into machinery. Must record product and processing data on specified forms and computers. Responsible for verifying quality of finished work pieces by inspecting them, comparing them to templates, measuring their dimensions, or speed testing electronically.• Solid Mechanical ability and ability to apply basic shop math.
• Must be able to read and understand Blueprints, verbal and written instructions and possess good communication skills.
• Ability to work in a self-inspection environment and be able to meet demands of common LEAN / WCM practices such as data collection, meeting daily output goals, and 5S standards.
• Must possess the ability to use all standard machine shop measuring tools such as micrometers, verniers, bore micrometers, and gages.
• Must follow safe work practice and be proactive in resolving or alerting supervision to safety issues.
• Able to handle multiple and diverse tasks with minimum supervision; willingness to be flexible with job responsibilities and working hours.
• Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment is required.
• Supports World Class Manufacturing activities including autonomous work teams.
