Examples of Duties + Brush or spray paints interior and exterior surfaces from ground level or from ladder or swing stage. + Applies water or oil base paints, enamels, varnishes, rustproof agents and coatings onto drywall, plaster, metal, wood stock and fabricated items. + Enamels, varnishes and grains woodwork, walls, floors and ironwork. + Fills, stains, color varnishes, lacquers and polishes furniture. + Mixes paints, sizes, varnishes, enamels, lacquers, calcimines or other washes, and paint and varnish removers. + Matches colors and touches up old work. + Paints and varnishes metal surfaces to include application of base coat, color coats and finish varnish. + Scrapes, sandpapers, burns, dissolves, and washes surfaces remove old paint, varnish and other coverings, and otherwise prepares surfaces for painting, staining varnishing and finishing. + Cuts and replaces window and door panes. + Makes minor adjustments and repairs to windows, doors window frames, siding and eaves. + Patch plasters walls and caulks. Minimum Qualifications Qualifications (required): + Completion of two (2) years in a trade or vocational high school. + Completion of an apprenticeship program in the trade. + Two (2) years of journeyman experience in painting the interiors and exteriors of building, structures equipment and furniture and in matching colors Qualifications (preferred): + Graduation from a trade or vocational high school.
