THE POSITION
Launch into a new career by developing new skills and expertise! The Pennsylvania State Police is seeking a hardworking and detail-oriented individual to join our team in the Fingerprint Identification Unit within the Bureau of Records and Identification. As a Fingerprint Technician Trainee, you will learn about the processes involved in identification and non-identification of individuals through automated and manual fingerprint and palm print examination, comparison, and verification. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Fingerprint Technician Trainee, you will participate in formal training sessions, seminars, workshops, and on-the-job work experiences to become familiarized with fingerprint identification skills. Your work will involve assisting in the following tasks: processing fingerprints and palm prints of individuals submitted by a law enforcement or governmental agency, as well as performing side-by-side image comparisons of the source prints to possible matches generated by the MBIS. You will also assist in performing print card control by assessing print quality and processing prints that meet standards for input to the MBIS. As your learning progresses while in this role, you will begin to work with greater independence.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment 40 hours per week
+ The Pennsylvania State Police operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. You will work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, with a 30-minute lunch.
+ Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
+ Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $ 43,397.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
+ An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
+ You must obtain and maintain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.
