Summary: The Idaho Department of Commerce is seeking an individual to join the fiscal department. The incumbent will use accounting theory and practice to ensure the agency applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards correctly and consistently. Incumbent will ensure compliance with state and agency policy for functions such as requisition requests and accounts payable, including understanding of vendor 1099s, payroll, purchase card (PCARD), and travel transactions. The incumbent must have a proficient understanding of the agency’s chart of account structure to ensure proper coding of financial transactions. This position requires efficiency and accuracy in conducting day-to-day functions. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail. Job Responsibilities: Preparing Financial Transactions (60%) + Process accounts payable and requests for funds (RFFs) + Prepare adjusting entries for accounts payable transactions as needed + Assist with outstanding warrant process + Assist staff as needed with policy and training as it relates to PCARD, travel, requisition requests, and accounts payable + Assist with agency inventory + Process cash receipts + Assist with PCARD and travel expense reports Other (40%) + Prepare various reconciliations + Assist with event revenue reconciliations + Assist with federal draws + Assist with research, analyzing, and preparing year-end closing packages + Assist with Legislative Services Office (LSO) audits + Assist with month end closing processes + Update LUMA and COGNOS reports when needed + Special projects as needed to support the work of the Fiscal Division + Cross-train on other fiscal positions and tasks + Complete assigned trainings as available for professional development + Assist with various broadband accounting and reporting + Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Good knowledge of: + Accounting principles and practices Preferred Qualifications: Experience: + Using a personal computer to develop, analyze, and report on financial data + Managing projects and deadlines + Processing general ledger account reconciliations + Taking physical inventory and reporting on capital and non-capital assets + Utilizing pivot tables in Excel Some knowledge of: + State financial policies + The State of Idaho’s enterprise reporting system (LUMA) Supplemental Information: + Please ensure all relevant certifications, licensing, and documentation are uploaded with your resume.
