Reporting to the Director of Financial Operations, this position supports financial operations through transactional processing, reporting, internal controls, and engagement with the Law School community. Contributing to the close-knit law-school community, law students have a choice of 6 student-edited journals and more than 50 student organizations in which to participate. **Responsibilities*** + Assist in developing budget projections and managing re-budgets and various post-award requests and reporting.(10%) + Conduct financial analysis and prepare standard and ad hoc reports to facilitate financial decision-making (35%) + Monitors expenditures for faculty and staff.Provides necessary data when required (15%) + Manages journal entries, request fund transfers, initiate budget changes, and seeks new chartfield or shortcodes when appropriate (10%) + Collaborates with faculty, staff, students, and suppliers to troubleshoot and resolve purchasing issues, ensuring that requests are followed through to completion (10%) + Manages the creation of contracts by gathering the required information and working with the university's procurement team to generate requisitions and purchase orders for invoice payments (10%) + Recommends and advises process improvements to enhance the daily business operations (5%) + Develops, updates, and implements finance team procedures (5%) **Required Qualifications*** + Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience + Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant financial experience, including budgeting, reporting, and expense monitoring + Demonstrated success in a team-based work environment and in building effective relationships across diverse partnerships. + Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office tools, including advanced Excel skills, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies + Proven ability to manage time, assignments, and projects effectively, including consistent follow-up and communication with Law School and central offices. + Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with a low rate of errors + Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, multitask, and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment + Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills + Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information with utmost confidentiality + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate issues and take initiative + Familiarity with, or ability to quickly learn, university policies related to financial reporting, procurement, and research administration **Desired Qualifications*** + Prior experience in higher education or non-profit financial administration + Experience with MPathways/PeopleSoft or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems + Experience of using financial reporting tools such as Business Objects for data analysis and decision support + Familiarity with UM administrative processes, procedures, and systems + Experience developing and implementing internal control practices and financial procedures + Demonstrated competence in writing and editing documentation for diverse audiences + Skilled in developing and delivering multi-mode communications tailored to the needs of faculty, staff, and students. + Ability to adapt successfully as priorities shift and maintain a calm, professional demeanor under pressure **Modes of Work** Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
