Job Purpose:
The role represents an opportunity to join the highly talented Tokio Marine HCC International Financial Planning & Analysis team and contribute to the exceptional performance of our business. The successful candidate will partner with the business, building relationships with a wide range of front and back office stakeholders whilst taking overall responsibility for the Property, Treaty & A&H and J Business sub-segment.
Key Responsibilities:
Front Office Business Partnering
Engage with business stakeholders to identify upcoming commercial drivers that are likely to affect future performance.Understand and communicate key drivers of financial results to Heads of Lines of the assigned sub-segment and their direct reports.Support underwriting management in any financial queries.Represent Finance at Committee meetings on the assigned sub-segment where appropriate.Financial Analysis
Carry out fast and accurate analysis of, and commentary on, key business drivers and parameters that impact future profit and revenue growth.Ensure that monthly, quarterly and annually internal commentary for assigned sub-segments are produced and reviewed on a timely basis.Analytical review of annual budget and monthly, quarterly and annual financial results of the assigned sub-segments.Annual Planning and Forecasting
Responsibility for all annual budget related activities for assigned sub-segment includingUnderstanding strategic business plansSupporting the business during the planning periodReview and challenge of various inputs from stakeholders and drafting of narratives or commentary.Provide input into the monthly forecasting process through engagement with business stakeholders, identification of upcoming issues and/or adjustments and understanding of historical trends.Finance Reserving
Review monthly IBNR numbers and liaise with internal and external actuaries on the booked reserves.Review and distribute reserving reports (including monthly loss triangles and loss development reports).Review monthly attritional and event loss movements and ensure loss ratios are in line with expectations.Review of CAT and attritional reserves.Support in the drafting of the IBNR Committee Memorandum.Other Activities:
Mentor and develop direct reports.Support the Head of FP&A with key projects and deliverables.Approach all tasks with a continuous improvement mindset to ensure processes are as efficient and effective as possible, while delivering high quality output.Skills and Experience Specification:
Essential:
At least 5 years of experience in general insurance in a major accounting firm or industryIT literate with advanced Excel skills and strong financial modelling abilitiesDeveloped analytical skills including compelling communication of financial information and key metrics/messagesHighly numerate with excellent attention to detail and accuracyMethodical approach to problem solving and decision makingEncourage a culture of continuous improvement and ‘end to end’ process thinkingAbility to influence and lead othersFocus on timely delivery of quality outputsCommitment to development of self and othersWilling to challenge assumptions and the status-quoDesirable:
