TheFinancial Institution IT Examiner 1plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and soundness of Idaho's state-chartered financial institutions and ensuring that Idahoans have access to strong and comprehensive financial services.
This is an excellent opportunity to join the Department of Finance, Financial Institutions Bureau. This is the entry level of a multi-level job series.
The Department of Financepromotes access to healthy and comprehensive financial services for Idaho citizens through the efficient oversight of financial institutions, investment opportunities, and credit transactions. Through administration of laws enacted by the Idaho Legislature, legitimate financial transactions are encouraged, while fraud, unsafe practices, and unlawful conduct are detected, and appropriate enforcement actions are taken. The Financial Institutions Bureau ensures the safety and soundness of state-chartered banks, credit unions, and trust companies through efficient and effective oversight.
Examples of Duties
Examination Activities:
+ Conducts IT and cybersecurity threat examinations of small/non-complex financial institutions to ensure systems are operating safely and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and policy statements.
+ Assesses risks related to information security and cybersecurity associated with the information technology operations, electronic banking, and management information systems to ensure the systems are operating in a safe and sound manner and in compliance with applicable financial institution laws, regulations, and policy statements.
Technical Communication:
+ Interacts with financial institution staff, regulators, and third parties to conduct examinations, investigations, and resolve complaints.
+ Prepares comprehensive reports and documentation supporting findings and recommendations.
+ Presents findings and recommendations to financial institution management and directors.
Overnight travel is required approximately 30% of the time, potentially up to 40% in special cases.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Good knowledge of current trends in IT; information security and cybersecurity, including computer forensics; business continuity and business resumption planning; IT risk assessments and internal controls; and IT audit; networks and network security protocols; electronic banking and EFT systems; audit and risk management, standard applications; end user support service, servers, networks, workstations and mainframes. (Typically gained by a bachelor's degree in IT or related field from an accredited college OR 2 years professional work experience that demonstrates good knowledge of current trends in IT ; information security and cybersecurity, including computer forensics; business continuity and business resumption planning; IT risk assessments and internal controls; and IT audit; networks and network security protocols; electronic banking and EFT systems; audit and risk management, standard applications; end user support service, servers, networks, workstations and mainframes.)
+ Experience interpreting and communicating specialized technical material both verbally and in writing. (Typically gained by at least one-year professional work experience which required interpreting and communicating specialized technical material both verbally and in writing.)
