Job Description
Job Overview:
The Financial Data Supervisor is a key member of the Finance team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and strategic use of financial data. This role will play a critical part in strengthening the organization’s data analytics capabilities to support data-driven decision-making across departments. The position works in close collaboration with the Finance Director, HQ, and programming teams and may supervise staff depending on organizational needs. It requires advanced analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to synthesize financial data into actionable insights in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
Major Responsibilities:
Financial Data & Analytics
+ Lead the design, development, and maintenance of financial dashboards, models, and reports to improve visibility and inform strategic decisions.
+ Leverage financial systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI, Excel) to extract, clean, and analyze large datasets.
+ Monitor financial performance metrics, track KPIs, and conduct variance analysis across departments, grants, and programs.
+ Provide actionable insights and recommendations to Finance leadership, Program Managers (PMs), and Deputy Directors of Programs (DDPs).
+ Conduct data trend analysis to support forecasting, grant planning, and scenario modeling.
+ Standardize and streamline financial reporting processes across field offices.
+ Train team members and program staff on data tools and reporting best practices.
Finance Operations
+ Support day-to-day finance tasks, including payment review, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
+ Ensure compliance with IRC accounting policies, fund accounting principles, GAAP, and donor regulations.
+ Review transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and alignment with grant and organizational budgets.
+ Oversee grant closeouts, reallocations, and financial reconciliations.
+ Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures and balance sheet reconciliations.
+ Coordinate closely with HQ and field finance teams to resolve data discrepancies and improve reporting accuracy.
+ Serve as back-up to the Finance Director for key operational duties.
+ Maintain a solid understanding of donor policies, regulations, and procedures, and promote this knowledge across program teams.
+ Review all accounting transactions for accurate coding; perform month-end/year-end closings and variance analysis.
+ Facilitate external and internal audits as needed.
+ Monitor the financial aspects of partnerships and sub-award programs.
+ Assist the Finance Director with balance sheet reconciliations.
+ Support the annual budgeting process and collaborate with the Budget Manager.
+ Lead the development and implementation of Finance KPIs aligned with departmental priorities.
+ Ensure protection of organizational assets through implementation of IRC’s internal control procedures.
+ Promote a culture of ethics and compliance through ongoing training, capacity building, and advisory support for staff and partners.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or Business Administration required; master’s degree preferred.
Work Experience:
+ Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance, budgeting, and accounting, preferably in a nonprofit or grant-funded setting.
Demonstrated Skills & Competencies
+ Proven ability to work with and analyze large datasets from multiple sources.
+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
+ Experience with financial systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred).
+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
+ Excellent communication skills; ability to present complex data clearly to non-financial audiences.
+ Demonstrated experience with monthly reconciliation and resolving discrepancies.
+ Proficiency in reviewing transactions and ensuring accurate coding.
+ Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
+ Ability to work independently and perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills; effective in multicultural settings.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and financial software (experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power BI is a plus).
+ High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
+ Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
+ Previous nonprofit or grant-funded experience strongly preferred.

Compensation:Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
