As the Financial Counselor, under the direction of the Director of Patient Access and/or coordinator, you will assist the uninsured and underinsured patient population in applying for public assistance programs. Ensure that all necessary information is collected and verified prior to billing. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Verify patients' self-pay status + Obtain accurate insurance information from patients + Complete Mass Health, NH applications and/or Self-Pay as applicable + Discharged patients are scheduled to come into the office and complete applications + Will travel throughout the hospital helping under or non-insured patients. + Candidates must be comfortable being in the ER, floors, bedside etc.) + The person needs to be highly independent and organized. + Perform other duties as assigned. Required: + High School diploma or equivalent. + CAC certified/willing to get CAC certified + Computer experience. + Weekends and holidays may be required. Preferred: + English/Spanish bilingual
