Financial Controls and Accrual Analyst

Job Title: Financial Controls and Accrual Analyst Location: White Plains, NY Duration: 12 Months (Contract) Hours: 37.5 hrs/week Schedule: Hybrid onsite role – 3 days per week Position Summary: The Financial Controls and Accrual Analyst supports cost accounting, financial analysis and reporting, and internal control activities for capital projects. This role is essential in ensuring financial accuracy, completeness, and compliance across project financials and billing. The analyst will work cross-functionally with engineering, accounting, billing, and project management teams to support financial integrity throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: + Prepare and post monthly accrual journal entries to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. + Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial presentations and consolidated reporting packages. + Contribute to the Monthly Financial Package for internal stakeholder review. + Review project invoices for accuracy, ensuring correct SAP PO number, account coding, value, approvals, and supporting documentation. + Coordinate reconciliation processes with engineering based on project milestones. + Analyze variances between SAP cost data and engineering final scopes for labor, materials, fees, and related costs. + Execute financial closeout procedures in SAP, including contract commitment closure and full billing verification. + Prepare and post accounting journal entries for project cost reconciliation. + Distribute billing memos, closeout documentation, and journal entries to appropriate finance departments. + Support updates in Primavera and assist Financial Controls team as needed. Required Qualifications and Skills: + Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with internal teams and stakeholders. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. + Working knowledge of SAP preferred. + Understanding of cost accounting principles and financial reporting. + Familiarity with Primavera is preferred. + General knowledge of contract terms, fee schedules, and statewide initiatives is beneficial. Education and Certifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
