The Financial Control function plays a critical and highly influential role within the organization, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial information, which directly impacts strategic decision-making and overall business success. As the guardians of financial accuracy, this team is responsible for preparing detailed financial statements for both management and local reporting, ensuring compliance with the highest standards and regulations. By managing internal and external audits, the Financial Control team supports transparency and accountability across the organization.
The Financial Controller is responsible for leading all financial control operations, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial statements, and maintaining robust internal controls. This role oversees the financial control team, providing strategic direction and guidance to achieve operational efficiency and compliance with accounting standards. Acting as a key business partner to the Financial Director, the Financial Controller collaborates closely with all the operational areas to drive financial performance, deliver accurate reporting, and support decision-making processes that align with the company’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reporting
· Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
· Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including reconciliation and analysis of financial data.
· Responsible for preparing and presenting the Filing Assurance Committee.
· Develop and maintain robust internal controls to mitigate risks and ensure financial integrity.
· Review and approve financial reports, ensuring they meet internal and external requirements.
· Collaborate with the Financial Director to provide insights and analysis that support strategic decision-making.
· Partner with key business units to ensure alignment between financial objectives and business strategies.
· Promote best practices, innovation, and the adoption of new tools and processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Financial Control function.
Compliance & Audit Management
· Lead and manage internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation and reports are prepared accurately and on time.
· Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, accounting policies, and corporate governance.
· Implement and update financial policies and procedures as necessary to align with best practices and regulatory changes.
Team Development & Leadership
· Lead and manage the financial control team, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to achieve high performance.
· Develop talent within the team through training programs, mentorship, and career development opportunities.
· Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth and accountability.
· Set individual and team performance objectives, conducting regular evaluations, and providing constructive feedback.
Key Performance Indicators
· Reporting Accuracy: Timely, error-free financial statements.
· Audit Compliance: Successful audits with minimal findings.
· Process Efficiency: Reduced month-end and year-end closing times.
· Team Leadership: Achievement of team goals, development progress and Employees Value Survey ratings.
· Business Partnership: Positive feedback from business units on financial support.
· System Optimization: Implementation of process improvements and automation targets.
· Strategic initiatives supported with financial analysis and recommendations.
Key Relationships
· Market Finance director and In-market finance team.

· Group functions (tax, treasury, etc.).

· Internal/external audit teams.

· Strong Financial Controlling knowledge (Balance sheet, Group and Local Financial Reporting and accounting principles).
· Accounting Expertise: Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance.
· Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey financial insights to stakeholders at all levels.
· Able to focus to detail and to the accuracy of reporting.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Understanding and knowledge of relevant finance tools and systems.

Requirements
· Education: Degree educated and part qualified - studying for a professional financial qualification.
· Experience: Minimum of 10-12+ years working and management experience in multinational corporate environment, with successful experience in managing and driving change, experienced people manager. Internal / external audit experience and/or SOX understanding.
· Language: English Professional working proficiency
· Language: Portuguese highly desirable
