Financial Controller
Job Description We're seeking a strategic Financial Controller to join our client’s leadership team onsite in the New Orleans area. This role is instrumental in managing the day-to-day execution of accounting and financial operations across the property, including financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, reconciliations, and journal entries. We’re looking for a driven, growth-minded leader with a passion for professional development and a clear path toward upward mobility - potentially advancing into a Director of Finance role in the future. The Controller will ensure the integrity of financial data through accurate reporting, robust internal controls, and compliance with GAAP. This includes producing timely financial statements, maintaining accounting systems, and implementing safeguards to mitigate risk and enhance operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points • Lead monthly financial close processes in alignment with GAAP and company policies • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations • Ensure timely filing and payment of federal, state, and local taxes • Partner with the Director of Finance to develop budgets and forecasts • Drive budget achievement through strategic scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions • Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures. • Assist in the preparation and/or review of daily revenue audits, as needed. • Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies. • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure regulatory compliance • Strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and streamline workflows • Provide hands-on leadership to the accounting team, fostering trust and productivity We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. Skills and Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field • 5-10+ years of progressive leadership experience in accounting/finance • Deep understanding of GAAP and financial data analysis • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations • Advanced proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, etc.) • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks • Strong communication and leadership skills • CPA license • MBA degree • Experience in a casino/gaming environment • Familiarity with Workday and/or Blackline software
