Under the general direction of the Coordinator, Halifax Transit, the Financial Assistant provides financial support to all Halifax Transit departments. The Financial Assistant position assists with accurate and timely financial reporting, processes items in a timely manner, analyzes expenses to identify trends, contributes to the key performance reporting, and performs other office duties related to all departments within Halifax Transit. This position will act as backup to the Admin Support Receptionist.

Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of Halifax Transit services;Working knowledge of HRM policies and procedures;Working knowledge of SAP is required; a similar software system may be considered;Basic knowledge of accounting principles;Knowledge of municipal accounting procedures and regulations would be considered an asset;Ability to communicate effectively;Organized and able to work independently to carry tasks to completion; Must be able to multi-task;Proficiency in HRM office applications;Computer proficiency required in Microsoft Office Suite;Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.
Please note - Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates who are selected for testing, may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer’s discretion.

HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
SALARY: Level 5, $30.28 per hour, as per the NSGEU Local 222 Collective Agreement.
WORK LOCATION: TD Building, 12th Floor, Barrington Street, Halifax and 200 Ilsley Avenue, Dartmouth
