What You’ll Do
As a key member of our finance team, you’ll oversee grant financial management from start to finish, guide a team of Financial Analysts, and partner closely with program leadership and executive staff.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead, mentor, and coordinate the daily workflow of Financial Analysts
+ Oversee grant expenditures to ensure proper classification and compliance with funder requirements
+ Partner with Financial Analysts and Program Managers to produce timely, accurate financial reports for funders
+ Coordinate monitoring visits with funders alongside Program Managers and Vice Presidents
+ Collaborate with the Accounting/Payroll Manager during monthly financial closings
+ Work with the Budget and Controls Manager on budget development, revisions, and adjustments
+ Identify, analyze, and report budget variances and financial deviations to the Budget and Controls Manager and CFO
+ Prepare and review variance analyses and financial summaries
+ Ensure all funder reports are completed and submitted on or before deadlines
+ Maintain and update cost allocation tables as part of the monthly close
+ Review and validate financial data in program balance sheets and income statements
+ Support monthly and annual close processes, audits, and fund closings
+ Review journal entries prepared by Financial Analysts and prepare entries as needed
+ Maintain and improve departmental policies and procedures
+ Provide support to the CFO on special projects and initiatives
What You BringEssential Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or equivalent nonprofit accounting/managerial experience
+ At least 5 years of relevant experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role
+ Strong knowledge of Federal and State funding regulations
+ Solid understanding of GAAP
+ Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and working knowledge of MS Word
+ Experience using financial and accounting software
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Strong organizational skills with a customer-service mindset
+ Ability to analyze data, manage multiple priorities, and work proactively
+ Proven leadership and staff supervision abilities
Preferred Skills & Experience
+ Familiarity with Blackbaud / Financial Edge
+ Hands-on experience with budgeting, grant management, and financial reporting
+ Ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-financial staff
Work Environment & Schedule
+ Onsite role in a professional office/cubicle environment
+ 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday
+ 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hartford, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.75 - $27.83/hr.
