Job Title: Financial Analyst - Cost Support and Promotions
Job Description
This position supports the accurate setup, tracking, and verification of cost support and promotional funding, ensuring proper collection of vendor funding and prevention of financial mis-reporting. This role blends financial analysis, promotion operations, and data-driven process improvement, working closely with quality assurance and accounting partners to monitor annual and promotional funding activities. The position offers strong growth opportunities in accounting and finance within a highly visible team that regularly interacts with senior leadership.
Responsibilities
Perform collection, submission, and verification activities for all cost support and promotions to ensure accurate setup and proper collection of vendor funding.Prioritize and allocate work activities for both in-store and digital promotions while meeting required processing timelines and quality standards.Maintain a strong understanding of item families, including how promotional activities affect financial performance and key strategic initiatives.Research and resolve financial and operational issues related to cost support and promotions, escalating complex matters to the supervisor as needed.Work closely with the quality assurance accountant to review and monitor annual and promotional funding activities for accuracy and completeness.Ensure that all agreements related to supplier funding are accurate and complete to prevent material financial mis-reporting from understatement or overstatement of supplier funding liabilities.Assist with process improvements that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of cost support and promotional workflows.Support the creation and enhancement of templates, dashboards, and analytical tools in Power BI, SQL, Access, and similar platforms to help the team work more effectively.Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including finance, accounting, and vendor management, to support promotional initiatives and resolve discrepancies.Use Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, to analyze data, validate funding, and prepare reports that support decision-making.Communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders, managing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment with high visibility to upper management.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.Experience or familiarity with SQL for data querying and analysis is a plus.Experience with Power BI, and Microsoft Access for reporting, dashboards, and data analysis is a plus.Excel macros experience is a plus.Outgoing personality and strong interpersonal skills that support collaboration and cross-functional communication.Interest in developing a long-term career in accounting, finance, or promotions analytics, with a desire for growth and advancement.Industry-specific experience in retail, convenience stores, or similar environments is a plus.Work Environment
This role sits within the quality assurance team under the cost support umbrella, a high-visibility group that interacts frequently with upper management due to its critical impact on the business. The team works with a variety of analytical and reporting tools, including Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL, and Microsoft Access, in a fast-paced environment where managing multiple deadlines and priorities is essential. You will collaborate closely with accounting, finance, and vendor-focused teams, contributing to major promotional and funding initiatives. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irving, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.25 - $38.46/hr.
