Job Description
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for delivering advanced financial analysis and reporting across Power Systems Projects, Deferred Revenue Contracts, and other specialized business areas. This role performs complex financial modeling, evaluates project and contract performance, and supports strategic and operational decision-making through accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting.
ResponsibilitiesManage revenue recognition and cost allocation for Power Systems projects.Perform forecasting, budgeting, and account reconciliations.Allocate project costs and ensure accurate tracking of financial results.Apply percent-complete accounting for financial reporting on most contracts, which serves as the basis for deferred revenue recognition.Analyze each contract, support detailed variance explanations, and record financial results based on contract-specific percent-complete rates.Prepare and analyze industry-based contract reporting, including detailed variance analysis and explanations.Manage gross profit bookings, ensuring consistency and alignment between system outputs and financial reporting.Perform balance sheet reconciliations and analytical reviews.Develop sophisticated, ad hoc financial models.Perform advanced financial analysis, including what-if scenarios to forecast timing of expenditures and corresponding impacts on revenue recognition.Identify opportunities for operational and financial performance improvement.Support financial reporting and updates for contracts and other business units.Prepare executive-level presentations and reporting packages.Manage customer rebate reporting and recovery processes.Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with financial policies, standards, and accuracy requirements.Essential SkillsSelf-motivated with strong attention to detail.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational and time-management capabilities, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.Professional demeanor and strong learning orientation.Team-oriented, with the ability to collaborate across peers and business leaders.Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial results into business impact.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.Professional designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA) or MBA.Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in an analytical role within finance or business accounting.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working with US and CAD currency.Intercompany accounting, working with 3 or more entities.Experience with environments like SAP, D365, Oracle.Knowledge of revenue recognition, contract analysis, SOX, IFRS 15.Manufacturing, industrial services, or heavy equipment background.Dealership or aftermarket business model exposure.ERP systems such as M3/Infor and RentalMan.Prior experience supporting or mentoring junior analysts.Proficient in Power BI.Commercial mindset, understands the impact of decision on business outcomes.Work Environment
The position starts in-office and transitions to a hybrid structure once training is completed. The work week is 37.5 hours, with flexibility around month-end. The environment encourages strong collaboration with non-financial stakeholders and minimal micromanagement. Success in this role is driven by ownership and reliability.
