Financial Analyst

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to provide financial and analytical support within a large, complex organization. This role supports multiple service lines and partners closely with operational and finance leadership to ensure accurate reporting, variance analysis, and timely financial insights. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and communicating financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis & Reporting

Research and analyze financial variances, trends, and performance driversSupport month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reviewsPrepare dashboards, customized financial reports, and ad hoc analyses for leadershipPerform cost analysis and run costing queries from financial or cost accounting systemsAssist with budget development, forecasting, and financial modeling

Accounting & Compliance Support

Apply general accounting, GAAP, cost accounting, and financial management principlesSupport audit and tax-related processes as neededMaintain accuracy and consistency in financial data and reporting

Business Partnership & Communication

Serve as a financial liaison to operational leaders and business unit managersClearly explain financial results, reports, and variances to stakeholders at all levelsRespond promptly to leadership inquiries, particularly in cost management and savings initiatives

Systems & Process Improvements

Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and reporting toolsSupport cost accounting systems, financial policies, and process improvementsParticipate in inventory counts and on-site financial activities as required

Required Qualifications:

4 to 7+ years of experience in accounting or financial analysis, including:General accountingGAAP accountingCost accountingFinancial managementJournal entries and month-end closeBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business AdministrationCPA not requiredAdvanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis)Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to work independently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with tax preparation and/or financial auditsBackground in large, complex organizations or enterprise environmentsAccounting experience with Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, or EY is highly desirable but not requiredJob Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Durham, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.92 - $52.39/hr.
