The Energy and Emissions Finance Lead is a specialized financial analyst responsible for identifying, forecasting, and managing the financial impact of environmental initiatives and regulatory requirements. Operating at the intersection of finance, operations, and sustainability, this role translates complex environmental regulations and operational data into clear, actionable financial insights that support informed decision-making by leadership.
Responsibilities
Track and manage costs related to carbon emissions, government‑mandated carbon allowances, and alternative energy usage.Monitor environmental regulations across multiple regions and interpret how evolving rules translate into financial impacts on the organization.Analyze regulatory requirements to ensure the organization is prepared for future environmental costs and avoid unexpected or last‑minute budget impacts.Build detailed financial models and forecasts related to fuel, emissions, energy usage, and regulatory compliance to support both short‑ and long‑term decisions.Oversee a large‑scale emissions and energy budget, ensuring spending remains controlled, accurate, and aligned with financial expectations.Ensure all energy‑ and emissions‑related costs are accurately recorded each month within the financial system.Translate complex financial and operational data into clear dashboards, summaries, and presentations, often using tools such as Power BI.Communicate insights to leaders, clearly highlighting risks, trends, and recommended actions.Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in finance, operations, and sustainability to align financial planning with environmental strategies.Continuously refine financial models and reporting as regulations, sustainability strategies, and operational realities evolve.Essential Skills
Proven experience in financial analysis and cost analysis, preferably in areas related to energy, emissions, or regulatory compliance.Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to perform the majority of forecasting and financial modeling in spreadsheets.Ability to analyze large volumes of data and identify meaningful trends, risks, and opportunities.Strong capability to explain complex financial and regulatory topics to non‑technical audiences in a clear and concise manner.Excellent organization and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage many moving parts and competing priorities.Strong problem‑solving mindset and intellectual curiosity, particularly in the context of evolving regulations and sustainability strategies.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with business intelligence or data visualization tools such as Power BI.Experience with data tools or coding that supports automation, analysis, and improved reporting.Comfort working at the intersection of finance, operations, and sustainability.Strong communication and presentation skills for delivering insights to leadership.Attention to detail and accuracy in financial modeling, budgeting, and monthly cost recording.Work Environment
This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with four days in the office and one day remote each week. You will work in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment that values analytical rigor, clear communication, and partnership across finance, operations, and sustainability teams. The position provides the opportunity to support a long‑term contract with a leading organization in its industry, using tools such as Excel and Power BI to build models, forecasts, and dashboards that inform strategic decisions related to energy, emissions, and regulatory compliance.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
