Financial Accountant

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Financial Accountant (FA) will be a key player in facilitating the financial reporting and compliance for multiple Canadian entities. Working closely with the Operational and Corporate Finance Teams, the FA is a key contributor to the month-end close process preparing journal entries, working papers, and variance analysis.
2+ years of relevant experience preferred in an accounting or finance role.University degree in finance/accounting specialization.Working towards CPA (preferred).Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software. Oracle is an asset.Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks accordingly, and meet the expectations of multiple stakeholders (i.e. corporate finance team, external auditors, internal auditors, executives, business leaders, etc.).Ability to be flexible, and work collaboratively as a team, taking on new tasks as needed to achieve the goal of timely and accurate reporting.Proven intermediate knowledge of US GAAP.Ability to perform monthly analysis of financial information and obtain a thorough understanding of variances in account balances to provide meaningful commentary to senior management.Ability to work in the office 3 days/week.Prepare monthly journals with relevant supporting working papersPerform monthly SG&A and P&L variance analysis for multiple entities.Run various reports from the accounting system to support the team.Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations.Other tasks as required.
