Financial Accountant, UK and Ireland
Contract: Permanent Contract
Based in Newbury, UK.
Hybrid: 2 Days Per Week in Office.
This position will provide the financial support to ensure the essentials are in place and operational for maintaining accurate and adequate books and records in accordance with local and US generally accepted accounting principles. This includes a focus on accounting compliance, internal controls and tax compliance. The role is a core element of the matrix financial organization comprising local Finance, Polish Finance Centre, Europe and US Finance teams.
Key Activities and Accountabilities:
Financial Accounting and Reporting
Ensure financial results are accurate and fully compliant and are appropriately supported by adequate documentationProvide support for annual statutory audit and financial statements processesProvide support for all company and indirect tax returnsWorking in partnership with the wider finance team, support the month end close process through to successful, effective, efficient and timely completionEmbrace PowerBI dashboards and big data to drive business performanceBuild/ foster/ facilitate strong relationships across the wider finance team and our stakeholders.Internal Controls Compliance
Ensure that effective internal controls are in place, documented and reviewed regularlyPrepare process narratives to ensure they remain up to dateEnsure all month end controls are evidenced appropriately and in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley requirementsAnalyse processes, identify improvement opportunities and propose solutionsTax compliance
Support the UK’s Statutory Accounting Officer compliance programmeMaintain the tax control frameworks, risk matrices and related narrativesMaintain strong relationships with our internal tax stakeholdersSupport all HMRC related auditsOther
Support with implementation of local country related projectsEnsure we hit all Corporate/divisional deadlinesPlay an active role in improving processesWhat you will need:
Education
University degree (accounting related)Newly qualified or final stage study to obtain professional accounting certification (i.e. ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW)English language – other European languages advantageousExperience
3+ years working in a finance function (or accounting practice). Newly Qualified or One Year post Qualification ExperienceComfortable with developing, maintaining and manipulating big dataStrong advanced excel skillsStrong system knowledge of Oracle an advantageCompetencies
