In this role, you'll be pivotal to ensuring that our corporate and business strategies are supported by the very best financial accounting and control processes - and that these processes continually maximise our profitability and efficiency.
Your roleAs a Finance Operations Manager within the Controllership team, you will act as the Financial Controller for the commercial area to which you are aligned (for example, eCommerce, Logistics or Retail). This includes:
Combining technical accounting with coaching, communication, influencing, leadership and prioritisation skills to ensure that we produce timely and accurate financial informationCollaborating with and challenging your internal stakeholders to review and understand monthly financial performancePresenting your area’s financial performance to the Group Financial Controller and Senior Managers within the Controllership department, clearly articulating variances to plan / forecastCommunicating regularly with your Commercial Finance business partners to ensure accurate forecasting and changes to processes / controls for new business initiatives are implemented in a timely and controlled mannerLeading a small team of part-qualified and qualified accountants, developing their technical knowledge and professional behavioursEmbracing change in a fast-paced environment - including migrations to different systems - ensuring the team and their output are continuously improvingReviewing high-risk balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring your team are investigating reconciling items in a timely and appropriate manner as they ariseLet's find out about you:ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountantStrong communication skills, including confidence presenting to and liaising with people at all levels of the businessAbility to lead and develop a small team, with a proactive approach to problem-solvingConfidence to take ownership, proactively and quickly prioritisingCapability to make measured decisions in a timely mannerCommitment to developing and stretching your own and others’ skillsGreat analytical and problem-solving skills, including an eye for detailAbility to think laterally and challenge the status quoAn audit background or experience within a fast-paced corporate business would be preferredExperience using digital tools such as Power BI or SQL code would be advantageousEverything you'll loveTo ensure we balance moments where we know we need to collaborate together and the need for flexibility, Asda has a hybrid way of working with a minimum 3 days a week in one of our Home Offices.
