Finance Generalist - School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS)

The Dean’s Office Finance and Budget team within the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for a Finance Generalist. 

The School of Engineering and Applied Science consists of 8 departments across the field of engineering. The school has seen tremendous growth in student population and faculty, as well as in its research expenditures in recent years. Reporting to the Senior Finance Generalist of Graduate Funding, the Finance Generalist will be responsible for a variety of professional level work across various financial disciplines. The candidate should possess a solid financial background, either gained through work experience or education, which allows them to assume a wide range of duties across multiple areas, including accounting, budget, payroll, financial aid, financial analysis, purchasing, or treasury.

Review and approve transactions related to graduate fellowship activity within the School, and report on that activity to stakeholders.Examine cash balances periodically or spend appropriately to ensure the optimization of cash management. Including performing expenditure transfers, journal entries and/or labor adjustments to ensure the proper use of funds.Monitor activity and work with stakeholders to address deficits or close worktags upon completion, primarily regarding graduate fellowships.Provide assistance with identifying funding sources and completing forms upon request, specifically related to graduate tuition.Provide assistance regarding department graduate financial aid questions.Assist in maintaining worktags for the schoolIn addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: At least two years of experience. Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree.
Licensure: None

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge of Workday, UBI, and SAFM

Anticipated Hiring Range: $60,000 - $65,000 commensurate with education and experience.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
