Finance Associate - Tax
Description A leading early-stage venture capital firm specializing in frontier technologies is seeking a Finance Associate with a strong background in tax to join its finance team. This firm operates in a fast-paced, evolving financial and regulatory landscape, with a focus on crypto, AI, and other emerging sectors. Position Overview: The Finance Associate will manage tax compliance and reporting across multiple entities, including funds, general partnerships, and the management company. This role also supports broader finance operations and strategic initiatives. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, analytical, and thrive in dynamic environments with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities: Tax Compliance & Advisory: + Oversee the full tax compliance lifecycle for funds, GPs, and the management company. + Review tax documents including returns, K-1s, and foreign filings prepared by external advisors. + Validate estimated tax calculations and facilitate timely payments. + Conduct tax code research and collaborate with advisors to ensure accurate positioning. + Serve as the primary liaison with tax advisors and perform independent validation of advice. + Respond to investor inquiries related to tax matters. + Lead ad-hoc tax research projects to support strategic decision-making. Finance Operations: + Review fund administrator reports and produce quarterly NAV reports. + Support annual financial statement preparation and audit coordination. + Monitor fund performance and investment valuations. + Participate in operational processes including capital calls, distributions, and accounts payable. + Address finance-related investor inquiries. + Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and strategic initiatives. Requirements Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or a related field. + Minimum of 3-5+ years of asset management tax experience, with at least 2 years in venture capital or private equity. + CPA or equivalent credential required. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets. + Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. + Experience in tax advisory is preferred. + Passion for emerging technologies such as crypto and AI is a plus.
