OverviewBrightSpring Health Services is seeking a Finance & Accounting Intern to join our team for a year-round, part-time opportunity. This internship is ideal for a highly motivated and detail-oriented student pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. You will gain hands-on experience in both corporate accounting and finance functions, supporting day-to-day operations, strategic initiatives, and month-end close activities.
The intern will work across departments to assist with journal entries, account reconciliations, cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation. You’ll also gain exposure to ERP systems like Oracle Fusion, help manage capital expenditures and support internal financial reporting and compliance processes. This role offers a unique opportunity to rotate between accounting and finance functions, providing a well-rounded foundation in corporate financial operations.
Accounting Responsibilities:
Prepare and post journal entries to support monthly close activitiesPerform daily and monthly accounting functions, including reconciliations and fixed asset subledger transactions in Oracle FusionAssist with corporate balance sheet accounts and conduct analytical reviewsPrepare schedules and documentation for external auditsHelp monitor compliance with GAAP and internal controlsManage invoicing and payments related to capital expendituresReview and process Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs) for policy complianceReconcile discrepancies with vendors and accounts payableMaintain accurate and organized financial records (digital and physical)Finance Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing financial reports, forecasts, and dashboards for internal stakeholdersSupport budgeting and financial planning processes across departmentsConduct variance analysis and performance metrics reportingCreate presentations for financial reviews and leadership updatesMaintain and analyze KPIs and financial databasesParticipate in audit walkthroughs and control testingDevelop and manage tax and compliance schedulesCollaborate with operations and cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracyGeneral & Special Projects:
Contribute to process improvement initiativesPerform financial and operational research and analysisTake part in ad hoc projects and administrative tasks as neededRotate through finance and accounting functions over the course of the program QualificationsEducation & Experience Requirements:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (minimum 9 credit hours/semester) or graduate program (minimum 6 credit hours/semester)Majoring in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related business fieldMinimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (Finance/Accounting GPA must also be 3.0+)Expected graduation date of December 2026 or laterCompletion of intermediate-level Accounting or Finance courses requiredPrevious internship or relevant work experience is a plusMust reside within daily commuting distance to Louisville, KY for the duration of the internshipAvailable to work 20–25 hours per week year-roundKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPointFamiliarity with financial software/ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, Workday, etc.) is preferredStrong analytical, mathematical, and critical-thinking skillsExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesHigh attention to detail and accuracyAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesDemonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ability to handle confidential informationSelf-starter with strong time-management skillsCollaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and in teamsEagerness to learn and contribute in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
