Job Mission
The Finance Controller at ASML Business Services (ABS) Taiwan is responsible for managing compliance and accounting for a Taiwan legal entity. This position provides expert guidance to the business on accounting matters and ensures adherence to both external and internal reporting standards, including US GAAP, local GAAP, and T-IFRS. Additionally, this role is responsible for maintaining tax compliance and fostering strong working relationships with external audit firms.
Job descriptions
As a Finance Controller, you are responsible for ensuring clear, accurate, and thorough financial reporting for one of ASML Taiwan legal entities. Working within a global, matrixed finance structure, you will make sure financial statements are complete, properly documented, and audit-ready. You will also convert US GAAP records to Local GAAP (T-IFRS) financial statements and ensure these comply with tax requirements.
(1) Financial Reporting & Control
Review financial statements to ensure compliance with US GAAP, local GAAP, and local regulations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and checklists.
Ensure accurate revenue recognition and adherence to US GAAP and local GAAP policies.
Collaborate with central sales accounting team in Netherlands to generate and reconcile the contract liability or contract asset from global view to domestic view. Understand global VPA vs. domestic VPA (volume purchase agreement).
Collaborate with central CS accounting team in Korea and Netherlands to generate and reconcile CS revenues and credit types.
Collaborate with finance business partner team in Taiwan to provide professional compliance requirements and comments for commercial and business cases
Review tax provision calculations and FAS 109.
Reconcile local statutory financials with US GAAP financial statements.
Coordinate the audit (external and internal) processes for physical inventories, cycle counts, and corrections.
Support transfer pricing calculations and group reporting in cooperation with global finance and tax teams.
Manage foreign exchange exposure and mitigate related losses.
Serve as the primary audit engagement coordinator and main point of contact for external auditors, representing designated legal entities within the scope of the audit.
Manage the coordination and preparation of all supporting materials required for statutory audit compliance, including assisting in the review of relevant documentation.
(2) Direct and Indirect Tax Compliance
Make sure all local tax returns (corporate income tax, VAT/GUI, withholding tax, and other taxes) are prepared and submitted accurately and timely.
Be the main contact for preparing and reviewing tax returns, including providing financial information as needed.
Help with planning and managing company tax payments.
Prepare or review reports for Country by Country Reporting with Tax team.
Identify and share potential tax risks or benefits and working with Tax Team.
Collaborate with Tax team to communicate with the Taiwan National Tax Authorities and help respond to their questions, especially on financial matters.
(3) Ethical Behavior & Business Practices
Uphold and enforce the ASML Code of Conduct in all business activities.
Prevent misuse of company assets and report any unethical or suspicious behavior.
Address and remediate non-compliance with each owner or stakeholder, and RBA team.
Assist with confidential investigations and audits regarding ethical or fraudulent incidents.
Implement preventive measures to minimize risk of fraud or misconduct.

Professional Qualifications Overview
Education and Experience
Possess a minimum of 15 years of professional experience, with either Taiwan/US CPA certification, or at least 5 years of Big 4 or equivalent accounting experience within an international business environment.
Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of financial accounting processes, including expertise in automating reporting procedures using SAP or Oracle systems. Experience with robotics or similar technology is highly desirable.
Proven track record in Taiwanese tax compliance, specifically in preparing tax certificate reports.
Thorough knowledge of, and practical experience with, tax accounting standards pertaining to US GAAP, Local GAAP, T-IFRS, and associated processes.
Fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
