Communicating Honestly,Transparently,and Acting with IntegrityExhibiting a Results-Driven approachDelivering solutions that are Fit for PurposeDedicating themselves to Building a Sustainable LegacyTaking Responsibility and being AccountableCommitting to Zero HarmCultivating strong and meaningful PartnershipsReporting to the Coordinator – maintenance coordinator, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a structured learning pathway that combines classroom fundamentals with supervised hands-on practice, ensuring apprentices gain the required skills in safety, diagnosis, operation, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment.
Your Duties and Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
Plan, coordinate, and deliver structured apprenticeship training (theory + practical + On the Job Training (OJTs) rotations) aligned to trade requirements and company standards.
Create competency matrices/task books, assess apprentices, and sign off competence progression with clear evidence.
Facilitate equipment systems training (diesel, hydraulics, electrics, diagnostics, Planned Maintenance (PMs) services) and coach correct procedures on the job.
Embed Health Safety and Environmental requirements (e.g., Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), lifting, risk controls) into all training; run refreshers and close gaps identified by incidents/audits.
Develop and update lesson plans, SOP-based job aids, and assessments using Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) guidance, engineering changes, and failure trends.
Maintain accurate training records, certifications, attendance, results, and produce progress/performance reports for stakeholders.
Liaise with superiors, workshop/field leadership and OEMs to schedule training, secure resources, and standardize best practices.
Provide targeted mentorship, coaching and remediation plans to address low performance, rework, repeat failures, and prepare learners for trade tests.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
Minimum Diploma in Heavy Equipment Engineering (HEE) from a recognized learning institution.
Diploma in Teaching Methodology from a recognized learning institution.
Valid registration with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
Minimum 7 years’ work experience in a similar role.
Minimum Class B driver’s license.
TEVETA accreditation and Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics will be an added advantage.
