Job DescriptionOur canine group, under Allied Universal® Enhanced Protection Services, is hiring a Field Technician - SmartTech. The Field Technician - SmartTech provides technical support, installation, maintenance, and repair services for X-Ray inspection systems and SmartTech® units. The Field Technician supports escalated technical issues, performs field and in-house service work, and assists with SmartTech® deployments while maintaining clear communication with clients and internal teams. The Field Technician - SmartTech will expect to travel locally and nationwide as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide Tier 3 support for X-Ray systems and Tier 1–3 support for SmartTech® units by troubleshooting and resolving technical issues involving internal computers, transformers, control boards, conveyor systems, and X-Ray generatorsDiagnose system malfunctions and communicate repair or replacement needs to technicians and internal teamsPerform installations, de-installations, maintenance, repairs, and removals of X-Ray machines locally and nationwide (excluding TSA checkpoint units)Troubleshoot, test, and repair X-Ray equipment in-house and onsite, utilizing diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters and radiation detectorsResearch equipment requirements prior to SmartTech® installations to ensure compatibility with specific X-Ray unit specificationsPerform SmartTech® installations, removals, upgrades, and configuration adjustments to suit varying operational environmentsCommunicate clearly with clients regarding maintenance activities, installations, repairs, and system statusComplete required administrative documentation, including installation reports, maintenance reports, expense reports, and other assigned recordsProvide onsite customer training limited to basic X-Ray operator and SmartTech® operator training (excluding image interpretation)QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):
Must possess one of the following:Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Systems Technology, or a related technical fieldHigh School diploma or equivalent with a combination of six (6) years of technical/trade certifications, vocational training, or equivalent hands-on experienceMust be able to successfully complete and pass annual certification from an X-Ray Technologies Manufacturer (ex. Smiths Detection)Valid driver’s license if driving a company vehicle or personal vehicle while conducting business (e.g., client visits, attending networking events)Minimum of three (3) years of field technician service experienceExperience diagnosing and solving complex technical issuesTechnical competencies with X-Ray Technologies (X-Ray Machines, Baggage Scanners) including but not limited to: Smiths Detection, Rapiscan, Astrophysics, VOTI, VMI or L3 Communications unitsTechnical competencies with computers in generalAble to work both individually and with a teamAble to work a flexible work schedule as business needs dictateStrong customer service skillsExcellent organizational, communication, and vendor-management skillsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):
