Job Description
The Field Technician will predominantly be engaged in construction-related inspections, requiring specific certifications and/or experience. You will perform daily inspections of construction projects, ensuring quality and compliance with building code requirements, construction drawings, and project specifications. Inspections may span multiple disciplines, including structural steel, concrete, masonry, and fireproofing. This role involves visual and physical inspections, field testing to verify plan and specification conformity, preparing inspection reports, and providing written documentation of observations and material testing. Communication with engineers or project managers is essential, along with collaborating with the project team to address potential issues. Adherence to strict safety standards is crucial.
ResponsibilitiesPerform testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with training and specified procedures.Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.Provide clear documentation of findings and results.Perform basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.Communicate information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed.Draft inspection reports for review by lead inspector and/or Project Managers.Assist lead inspectors on projects as needed.Follow safety rules, practices, and requirements for all projects.Conduct pre-task planning before executing work and report any safety issues or concerns to management.Maintain quality standards on all projects.Essential SkillsConstruction inspection experience.Experience with ACI, ICC, NICET certifications in Soil, Concrete, Masonry, Asphalt.Strong report writing and communication skills.Experience with civil construction and inspection equipment.Environmental field and quality inspection knowledge.Density testing expertise.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.Minimum 4-5 years experience as an Engineering Technician or other applicable experience preferred.3 years experience in construction inspection preferred.ICC certification in Soils.Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.Work Environment
Work hours are 8 am - 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays if needed. The position typically works outdoors in varying weather conditions, around heavy operating equipment and traffic ways. It may require work at heights on ladders, in confined areas, exposure to hostile flora and fauna, with moderate noise levels. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety-toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, respiratory protection, and appropriate clothing are required. The role involves regular standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and using hands for manipulation. Specific vision abilities are necessary, including close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. May require overnight travel to support projects in various locations.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
