DESCRIPTION:
Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and contribute to critical scientific research and innovation. As a Field Service Engineer III, you'll provide expert installation, maintenance, and repair services for sophisticated analytical and microscopy equipment (IOMS, GIRMS). Working with advanced technology, you'll deliver outstanding technical support while building strong relationships with customers across research institutions, universities, and industrial facilities. You'll resolve complex issues, conduct preventive maintenance, and train users to ensure optimal system performance. TERRITORY & TRAVEL:

Ideal candidate will live in the central US, e.g. Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota. There will be up to 100% travel within territory.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Advanced degree plus 3+ years of experience, or bachelor's degree plus 5+ years of experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating sophisticated analytical instruments, e.g. IOMS, GIRMSPreferred Fields of Study: Electronics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry or related technical fieldOngoing technical training and certifications requiredDemonstrated expertise with ultra-high vacuum systems, high voltage electronics, and complex electro-mechanical systemsStrong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities for hardware and software issuesExcellent interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to build positive customer relationshipsProfessional working proficiency in English; additional languages beneficialAbility to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and engineering drawingsProficiency with Windows operating systems, networking, and standard business softwareValid driver's license and ability to travelPhysical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in laboratory environmentsExperience mentoring and training others preferredAbility to work independently while maintaining strong team collaborationAvailability to respond to urgent customer needsMust follow all safety protocols and be able to work in cleanroom environments when required

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Illinois is $40.06–$60.08.
