Territory: Primarily covers Saint Louis, Missouri with local travel required, ideally based in the Saint Louis area.

Unity Lab Services, a part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, provides a wide range of solutions, equipment, and services to our customers. The Field Service Engineer III is assigned with coordinating all field service support and customer relationship management components. The right candidate will deliver complete solutions for Chromatographic and Mass Spectrometric systems, including deployment, maintenance, proactive upkeep, and instrument verifications. We are searching for an applicant committed to clientele, endorsing Thermo Fisher Scientific in customer facilities, and dedicated to propelling advancement.

Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform on-site installations, repairs, maintenance, qualifications, and validations of Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry systemsProficiently use customer management software to complete service calls, handle parts inventories, and complete job tasksEvaluate examination and assessment results to identify the origin of the issue, and suggest fixing, substitution, or alternative remedial measuresCoordinate problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairsAnalyze Chemistry reports of technical problems to recommend modifications to eliminate future issuesProvide a communication link between the customer and the company to ensure effective serviceDevelop and conduct training on safe operations of the equipment and demonstrate skills to traineesEducation and/or Experience requirements:Bachelors Degree in chemistry or related field requiredPreference for candidates with at least 3 years of practical experience as a Service Engineer, specifically with analytical instrumentation, or 3+ years of pertinent industry experienceProficiency with Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry instrumentation is preferredStrong communication and the ability to build positive customer relationshipsAbility to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentationEssential Functions and Physical RequirementsSecurely move 50 pounds with periodic support and 25-30 pounds continuously throughout the dayBend, squat, stretch, and reach daily in a service functionTravel overnight, including possible air travel, for 50% of scheduled workMaintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving recordWork independently within a customer locationExtensive walking/standing for 75-85% of the dayOperate in areas where chemicals are handledOperate material handling equipment like push carts and pallet jacksWear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as lab coats, coveralls, hood, face shield, respirator, hairnets, steel-toed shoes, and/or safety gloves
