How will you make an impact?
As a Field Service Engineer, you will handle on-site installations, maintenance, and repairs of sophisticated systems. You will test equipment, train customers, and lead projects.
What will you do?
As the primary field service engineer for the region, make sure to meet customer needs efficientlyConduct on-site tool installations and follow testing procedures to ensure accurate working orderConduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visitsOffer solving and repair support for customers and other field service personnelCultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, system users, and company personnelSuccessfully complete technical training as requiredProactively seek out additional learning opportunities both inside and outside of the regionTravel, sometimes on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support colleaguesComplete and submit administrative reportsPartner with colleagues to acquire or provide technical mentorship and trainingProvide training for users on system operationMake yourself available to train and mentor new field service engineersProvide feedback to product quality teamsHow will you get here?
Education2-year technical degree, equivalent military, or technical trainingExperienceMinimum of 3-5 years of hands-on technical experience installing, repairing, and calibrating tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, Probers, or similar systemsKnowledge, Skills, AbilitiesDetailed understanding and extensive experience solving and repairing ultra-high vacuum, high voltage, mechanical, and computer issuesConsistent track record solving complex problems by process of elimination techniques down to the component levelAble to read and interpret schematicsLiterate in Windows software environmentsAbility to partner effectively with customers and colleaguesExcellent interpersonal communication skills; must have professional working proficiency in EnglishAble to acquire a valid passport to travel regionally and internationally as requiredMust possess a valid driver’s licensePhysical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.Able to secure entrance to US Government laboratories and facilities, if requiredAt Thermo Fisher Scientific, every single one of our 100,000+ exceptional team members has a different story to share.
