CNC Field Service Engineer – Machine Tool Repair & Install
Location: Hoffman Estates, IL | On-Site + Travel | Full-Time | Multiple Openings
We’re hiring CNC Field Service Engineers to support a growing team that services complex, high-precision CNC machine tools across industrial and manufacturing clients in the Northeast. This is a high-priority hire with multiple openings available in Hoffman Estates, IL.
You’ll be the go-to expert on installation, troubleshooting, and repair—working directly with customers to keep their equipment running and their operations productive. If you're looking for a hands-on, highly technical role with autonomy and growth potential, this is it.
What You’ll DoProvide on-site and phone-based service support for CNC machine tools
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and PLC ladder logic issues
Lead or support installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance
Partner with customer engineers on system upgrades and diagnostics
Train and support customer teams on new equipment and control platforms
Maintain accurate documentation and technical service reports
Serve as a trusted technical partner, building long-term customer relationships
Travel throughout a multi-state region (50%+) to support customer needs
Work from the technical center when not traveling
What You Bring3–5+ years of hands-on experience in CNC maintenance or troubleshooting
Strong background in electrical and mechanical systems
Familiarity with Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and/or Siemens controls (preferred)
Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and ladder diagrams
Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CRM/reporting tools
Great communicator with a customer-first mindset and strong technical presence
Associates or Bachelor’s in a technical field (preferred but not required)
Willingness to travel 50%+ across the region (drive/fly as needed)

Physical & Work Environment
This role involves working in active machining environments, with occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, standing, and using power tools. Travel is regional and expected 50% of the time.
