About this RolePAR Electrical Contractors, LLC is seeking a skilled and dependable Field Mechanic to support our construction and utility operations in the Kansas City area. This role is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of company vehicles and heavy equipment used in electrical transmission, distribution, substation, and drilling projects.
The Field Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe and efficient jobsite operations. This position requires a strong mechanical background, the ability to work independently in the field, and a commitment to safety and quality.
What You'll Do Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment, fleet vehicles, and small tools used in construction and utility operationsPerform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and equipmentService and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical componentsRespond to field service calls and perform repairs at job sites as neededMaintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and inspection documentationEnsure all equipment meets safety and DOT compliance standardsCoordinate with operations and fleet management to prioritize repairs and minimize downtimeOrder and manage parts, tools, and supplies necessary for repairsOperate service trucks and maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work environmentFollow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPEAssist with equipment mobilization and demobilization as needed What You'll Bring 3+ years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in construction, utility, or heavy equipment environmentsStrong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment repairExperience working on bucket trucks, digger derricks, trailers, and similar utility equipment preferredAbility to diagnose and repair equipment independently in field conditionsUnderstanding of DOT regulations and equipment compliance standardsValid driver’s license required; CDL preferred or ability to obtainStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to manage time effectively and prioritize multiple service requestsCommitment to safety, quality workmanship, and teamworkWillingness to work outdoors, travel locally or regionally, and work extended hours as needed What You'll GetBenefits
