Job Description
Role: Field Inspector – System Protection (Electric Transmission)
Responsibilities:
- Inspect installation of system protection equipment at substations.
- Verify proper setup of primary/secondary equipment and related circuits.
- Evaluate protective relay schemes and ensure correct field installation.
- Inspect breakers, transformers, and relays (both active and inactive).
- Confirm relay settings match engineering designs before energizing.
- Review engineering drawings (logic diagrams, protection set points).
- Document equipment ratings and update field drawings during construction.
- Report discrepancies and collaborate with teams to resolve issues.
- Assist in developing corrective action plans when needed.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews of system protection equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Requirements
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
Strong understanding of:
- Instrument transformers and control circuits.
- Protective relay systems (electro-mechanical and microprocessor-based).
- Communication protocols (Serial, TCP/IP, Fiber Optics).
Ability to:
- Inspect and troubleshoot moderately complex relay systems.
- Work independently under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Lead and train others effectively.
Education
(Associate or Bachelor’s degree in one of the following (or equivalent experience):
Electrical Engineering
Electrical Engineering Technology
Electronics or Instrumentation Technology
Electromechanical Technology Substation Specific Experience null
