Job Overview:
The Field Engineer purpose is to deliver safe, efficient, and accurate integration of field instrumentation and communication systems for oil and gas projects. The Field Engineer ensures proper installation, commissioning, and data communication from field instruments to cloud and control systems, supporting operational reliability, client handover, and compliance with quality and HSE standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Conduct site surveys to assess technical requirements and installation conditions. Install and commission field instrumentation, communication devices, and data gateways (e.g., for SCADA, PLC, DCS, or cloud systems). Set up and configure devices for accurate data acquisition and transmission. Ensure proper integration of instrumentation and communication systems into client control architectures. Prepare and update wiring diagrams, network layouts, and interface documentation. Configure protocols (e.g., Modbus, HART, TCP/IP) to enable reliable field-to-cloud/control system communication. Validate and ensure accuracy and consistency of field data for operational decisions and invoicing. Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to data loss, signal integrity, or communication failures. Ensure real-time data flow is stable and meets project specifications. Provide technical supervision during field deployment, especially during critical phases like commissioning and startup. Diagnose and repair faults in instrumentation, wiring, and communication systems. Support field operations teams in resolving technical issues and ensuring system uptime. Prepare and maintain detailed commissioning reports, setup/configuration documentation, and as-built drawings. Submit project completion reports for client handover and internal tracking. Ensure all documentation aligns with quality and compliance standards. Ensure all fieldwork complies with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and regulations. Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety audits. Report and respond to safety incidents, near misses, or non-conformances. Work closely with Project Managers, Application Engineers, Field Specialists, and Client Representatives to coordinate activities. Provide technical input during planning, execution, and post-job evaluation stages. Communicate project progress, issues, and completion milestones effectively.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in Telecommunications, Automation, Electrical Engineering diploma – Electrical, Automation, Telecommunications Microsoft Office, Advanced English skills Driving License - B PLC programming languages, Medium programming skills (Python/SQL/Java) Equipment Handling: Ability to perform basic maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of equipment Critical Thinking and Active Learning: Ability to follow instructions, apply active learning, and demonstrate critical thinking in solving simple problems. Reading and Writing Skills: Ability to read and follow technical manuals, procedures, and safety documentation. Time Management: Demonstrates punctuality and ability to manage tasks within assigned timelines. Physical Capability: Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including manual handling and operating tools and machinery. Problem Recognition: Strong analytical thinking and ability to break down complex problems Tool Handling and Assembly: Developing ability to understand how tools and products should be assembled, repaired, or modified through guided learning and practice. Teamwork and Communication: Good communication skills to interact effectively with team members and supervisors.
Travel Requirement: This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to: >75%
