How will you make an impact?

The role of a Field Application Scientist is to provide scientific expertise and support to customers, sales teams, and internal partners within CMD (Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division) to resolve complex analytical challenges by utilizing chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques. Primary responsibilities are to support customers through onsite and remote post-sales training and application support related to (but not limited to) qualitative and quantitative LC-MS applications in the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical markets. Additional responsibilities include providing pre-sales support to our North America sales team at customer sites and remotely to position them for successful wins.

What will you do?

Provide pre- and post-sales technical and application assistance in response to customer enquiries (both internal and external), including education, training, on-site visits, and remote/virtual support.Act as a trusted expert to our customers to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty which contributes to the overall success of the business.Prepare and present technical seminars to existing and potential customers, either as part of the sales process or at organized events.Deepen and broaden Thermo Fisher Scientific’s customer relationships with key scientific and educational leaders.Assist in developing insightful content; examples include company-hosted websites, videos, seminars, applications reports, eLearning material, etc.Stay informed about the latest scientific literature, methodologies, and regulatory requirements.Identify improvement opportunities and propose actionable solutions.

How will you get here:

Education

A master’s degree (or higher) in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related scientific field and/or equivalent work experience.

Experience

3-5 years of hands-on technical experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry instruments, software, data analysis, and techniques.Expert competency in qualitative and quantitative pharma and biopharma LCMS workflows and associated sample preparation techniques is required.  Experience with oligonucleotide LCMS workflows preferred.

Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.Outstanding teamwork and collaboration skills to foster creativity and contribute to the team's success.Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide guidance on product usage and optimization.Persuasive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.This position may require up to 75% travel.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $91,000.00–$136,350.00.
