Description TEKsystems is partnering with a telecommunications services company as they assist in the buildout of one of the largest data centers in the country that will be based in Memphis. We are seeking 11 immediate needs for experienced technicians. Duration: 10-12 weeks; 6-7 days a week and 60-70hr work weeks (This is Phase 2 of construction, with 3 and 4 coming right behind). Responsibilities: • Installation and maintenance of Fiber Optics networks. • Install, repair and resolve fiber optic systems and ensure that they work properly • Take care of fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problem areas • Splice and Terminate Ribbon/SM/MM fiber. • Perform basic to complex installation, troubleshooting & repair of fiber systems under minimal supervision • Access the fiber optic splice enclosure and splice the necessary fibers directly from a bucket truck • Perform fiber tests: OTDR, power meter/laser source, and scopes. • Prep, tray, and splice fiber optic cable ranging from single fiber to large counts as well as perform ring cuts when needed • Install demarcation enclosures, switches and other telecom equipment • Fiber optic test and troubleshooting abilities Additional Skills & Qualifications Desired: • Recent Fiber Installation - Pulling/Terminating fiber cabling. • Fusion splicing/terminations (ribbon fiber and loose tube fiber) • FOA Certification is a plus • General knowledge of OTDR and Light Source and Power Meters • Familiar with splice drawings and OTDR test sheets and reading traces • Cable prep/single and mass fusion splicing and termination abilities • Fiber optic test and troubleshooting abilities Experience Level Intermediate Level Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
