Ingredion is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Fermentation Scientist to join our biotransformation team. As a fermentation scientists you will work cross-functionally with other scientist and engineer colleagues to develop innovative fermentation processes to accelerate our product innovation pipeline and support the growth of our business sectors.

The Fermentation Scientist will reports to the Senior Manager, Biotransformation and has experience in bench and pilot scale fermentation processes; has an agile and business orientated mindset to expedite the process/product commercialization for novel ingredients.

What you will do:

Development and optimize industrial fermentation, DSP and formulation processes for a wide range of microbes and products (yeast, bacteria, filamentous fungi)Plan and execute fermentation experimental design (Lab, pilot & industrial scale) ensuring safety, effectiveness and efficiencyCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to execute high-impact projectsManage CROs/CMOs for project-related tasks to meet timelinesBe Involved in manufacturing infrastructure development and upgrade, including unit operation design, in-line process monitoring & automation, data management systems.Prepare technical, experimental reports, techno-economic feasibility assessments for communicating work outcomes and future recommendations.Keep abreast with literature and new technologies related to fermentation processes

What you will bring:

MSc or PhD degree in fermentation sciences/engineering; biotechnology; microbiology; biochemistry or related fieldMinimum of 3+ years experience as Fermentation Scientists or Engineer developing/optimizing fermentation processes with different microbes (yeast, bacteria, filamentous fungi); including scale-up and scale-down processesIn-depth knowledge of microbial fermentations at bench and pilot scalesHands-on experience using benchtop fermenters, microbiological techniques, downstream processes, and statistical toolsExperience with scale-up is a plusApplied knowledge in microbial physiology, chemistry, enzymology, physics, statistics, fermenter / bioreactor design, process data analytics, control and automationSolid knowledge of bioreactors and microbial metabolic pathwaysUnderstanding of modern molecular biology, strain and enzyme engineering

Pay Range:

$98,800.00-$131,733.33 Annual

This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).

Incentive Compensation:

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
