Job Title: Fermentation Operator
Job Description

Operate fermentation equipment to create animal probiotics. Set up equipment per work instructions and fermentation parameters. Identify, troubleshoot, and respond to deviations in process, product, equipment, and performance variations. Set up recipes and/or standard operating procedures (SOPs), understand and execute operations in mixing, pH adjustment, transfers, and process sequences while documenting steps and other records.

ResponsibilitiesOperate and maintain fermentation equipment for animal probiotic production.Set up equipment according to work instructions and specified fermentation parameters.Identify and troubleshoot process deviations, product inconsistencies, equipment malfunctions, and performance variations.Document process steps and maintain records of operations and results.Collaborate with lab personnel to verify product specifications.Essential SkillsBasic understanding of the fermentation process.Minimum of six months of experience in fermentation operations.Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with setting up and executing SOPs.Ability to perform pH adjustments and process transfers.Work Environment

The work is conducted in a fermentation facility with fermentation equipment. The role involves collaboration with up to 9 to 10 other fermentation technicians. The primary schedule is Monday through Friday with a typical shift from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., though there is flexibility for start times ranging from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. Occasionally, overtime may be required, either starting at 5:00 a.m. or staying later to complete fermentation processes. The environment is clean and provides opportunities for growth within the department.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
