Federal Design Project Manager

Though you’ll be assigned to the Arlington office, this is an international practice supporting both domestic and international U.S. Government programs. You will primarily support DoD, Federal Civilian, and Defense Contractor clients with Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build delivery methods. You’ll lead projects by effective, skilled project management techniques to enhance the design solutions, leverage project delivering costs, and add value to the business.  You’ll play an integral role in forming long-term client relationships, engaging team members on projects, and collaborating with talented resources throughout Jacobs.    Design your career with a company that inspires and empowers you to deliver your best work so you and your teams can evolve, grow, and succeed.    Here is the skill set being considered as a Design Project Manager: • Develop and manage overall scope, schedule, and budget to deliver multi-disciplinary design documents to renovate existing and construct new building facilities for the Federal Government • Be engaged with the client throughout the entire project. Single point of contact managing client expectations and balancing with Jacobs’ interests to deliver positive outcomes. • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, typically for the same government agency • Develop detailed technical proposals based on the government’s Request for Proposal (RFP) • Procure subconsultants (e.g. geotechnical, survey, blast/ATFP, etc.) • Solicit and negotiate level-of-effort workplans from the disciplines. Develop comprehensive workplans with labor rates to develop overall cost and revenue. • Develop detailed design schedule to meet deliverable milestones • Identify unknowns and integrate risks into proposals • Assemble and lead multi-discipline AE teams (Architecture, Civil, Structural, MEP, Sustainability, Specifications, and Cost Estimating) • Conduct regularly occurring meetings to ensure the team stays on track • Resolve conflicts between stakeholders • Provide regular budget updates and monitor each discipline’s spending • Take overall responsibility for quality of design documents. Ensure deliverables (drawings, specifications, basis of design, and cost estimates) are checked using Jacobs Quality Control procedures before each submission. • Monitor and control risks. Requires close communication with client and Jacobs stakeholders. • Provide monthly financial reports to project management leadership. Includes summarizing key issues and events impacting cost, schedule and quality. • Coordinate timely payment from clients for work completed and in-progress • Coordinate with Jacobs construction services team. Engage as needed to troubleshoot construction and manage stakeholder expectations to keep construction on track • Participate in project closet tasks such as client satisfaction surveys, lessons learned and accounts receivable. #LI-IR1 • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering preferred. • Professional Registration (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) is preferred.  Project Management Institute (PMI) Certification will be considered • Minimum 5-year experience managing building-facility design and construction projects (preferably on Federal Government contracts) • US Citizenship is required • Experience leading design teams in Design-Build contracts  • Familiarity with model building codes (e.g. IBC) and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) • Ability to travel throughout the US and abroad as needed.
