Federal Business Development Representative | Pay $20-25/HR | 5 Days Onsite in Fairfax, VA | 3 Months Contract to Hire
Job Description
The Federal Business Development Representative supports federal contracting and business development activities by enhancing contract efficiency, collaborating on proposals, and assisting with project coordination. In this role, you help ensure the smooth execution of contracts by coordinating with vendors and government personnel, tracking deliveries, rentals, and events, and contributing to proposal writing across diverse industry needs. You analyze contract and proposal data, align proposals with client requirements, and support the implementation and maintenance of quality assurance protocols and documentation procedures. This position offers strong growth potential, including opportunities to advance into new roles or develop into a leadership position managing your own team.
Responsibilities
+ Monitor and review federal contract opportunities daily, including checking KO Will Notify opportunities and other monitored opportunities.
+ Check the award status of contract opportunities that are over a month old on Beta.SAM.gov, focusing on designated sections such as the light blue section.
+ Send professional follow-up emails to contracting officers when award status is not updated on Beta.SAM.gov.
+ Update analytics datasets with detailed contract information for awarded contracts, including both wins and losses from past quarters.
+ Reclassify and move loss records to the correct sections in the dataset when they are from a past quarter.
+ Use tables and pivot tables to organize, analyze, and summarize contract and opportunity data.
+ Transform analytic data into clear charts and graphs to support reporting and decision-making.
+ Assist with proposal writing and collaboration to ensure proposals align with client and government requirements.
+ Coordinate with vendors and government personnel to support the smooth execution of contracts and related activities.
+ Track deliveries, rentals, and events associated with federal contracts to maintain accurate records and timelines.
+ Support the implementation and maintenance of quality assurance protocols and documentation procedures for contracts and proposals.
+ Perform administrative support and data entry tasks to keep records, systems, and documentation accurate and up to date.
+ Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high attention to detail.
+ Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment and actively participate in continuous process improvement.
Essential Skills
+ 1–3 years of relevant experience in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
+ 1–2 years of retail sales or client support experience.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including the ability to work with tables and pivot tables.
+ Experience with administrative support and data entry.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with vendors, government personnel, and internal stakeholders.
+ Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy when updating datasets and documentation.
+ Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, go-getter attitude.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Proficiency in Google Suite is preferred.
+ Experience creating charts and graphs from analytic data.
+ Background or familiarity with federal contracting platforms such as Beta.SAM.gov.
+ Interest in business development, proposal coordination, or federal contracting.
+ Desire and ability to grow into expanded responsibilities or future leadership opportunities.
Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position, working in the office five days a week. The environment is generally quiet and focused, as team members spend much of their time working heads down on data, contracts, and proposals, while also making calls to target organizations and government clients as needed. The team is transitioning into a larger, newer office space, offering an upgraded and modern work setting. The work involves regular use of office productivity tools such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite, along with online federal contracting platforms. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
