Through research programs funded by science and technology Research and Development (R&D) organizations within the U.S. Department of War (DoW), the research and development team in FAST Labs collaborate across the enterprise. On this team, you ll have the opportunity to create and develop advanced technology capabilities in the areas of advanced electronics, autonomy, cyber, electronic warfare, and sensors and processing. We are seeking a strong, crossdisciplinary Section Lead for the FASTLabs business area. The role will oversee employees working on the APEX, ST, or R3 product lines, with a primary focus on software engineering and solid experience in systems engineering. As a member of the engineering team leading the software and systems sections of one of the three FASTLabs product lines, you will work closely with productline leadership, people managers, program engineering managers, and the businessarea discipline directors. Together you will ensure that the software and systems disciplines have the latest tools, talent, and technology needed for success. In this role you will be a cross-discipline software and systems engineering Section Lead within a product line in FAST Labs, leading a team of managers and senior staff while providing software and systems engineering expertise, driving programlevel execution, and aligning staffing resources with program needs. Some other things that you ll do as a cross-discipline software and systems engineering Section Lead include: + Work with the software/systems director and people managers to select, train, assess, develop, retain, and apply engineering staff required to achieve project goals. + Monitor deployment of qualified and timely resources on projects, proposals, and action plans at the appropriate experience level for the task. Support the Software and Systems Engineering Director with the development and execution of talent development at all levels. + Identify critical skill needs and staff personnel requirements identified by the project leads + Provide software and systems engineering input for newbusiness capture influence technical baselines, develop cost estimates, identify technical risks, and communicate risk mitigation strategies + Continually leverage, improve, and teach best practices across the engineering community. + Support the development of and communicate the strategy and plan for evolving the Software and Systems Engineering disciplines. + Present technology roadmaps and discipline roadmaps to staff. + Identify tools, Information-Technology (IT) and capital needs in support of the business. + Tailor work environment and standards in support of business requirements (Tools, Methodologies, etc.). + Promote use of innovative infrastructures such as model based engineering, devsecops, agile methodologies, and AI powered tools as identified by the engineering disciplines and the business area. + Directly support projects as a technical lead working with customers to plan, develop and deliver software and systems engineering products. Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this role, it will be performed **full-time on site.** This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + Typically, a bachelor s degree in an Engineering discipline with 12 years of related experience; OR a master s degree with 10 years of experience; OR a PhD degree with 8 years of experience + Active Top Secret DoW clearance with ability to obtain TS/SAP + Previous experience in a software or systems engineering leadership role with people management + Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and motivate technical teams + Demonstrated ability to integrate and coordinate with other functions and customers + Desire to continuously improve, innovate, learn, and exemplify strong thought leadership + Experience with systems engineering (any experience within the V-Model) **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Experience with modern engineering techniques, such as devsecops and model based systems engineering. + Modern software architectures, design patterns, development, and test. + Software configuration management strategies and agile project execution. + Automated release strategies. + Experience with SW/SE engineering team modernization and optimization + Experience developing software with AI productivity tools + 2 years of engineering management or project leadership experience **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $153377 - $260743 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
