BACKGROUND:  The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 28 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home. The IRC in Atlanta office was established in 1979 and has resettled over 30,000 refugees from over 65 countries into the Greater Atlanta area. As the largest refugee resettlement agency in Georgia, the IRC in Atlanta resettles an average of 1,000 refugees into Georgia annually and provides additional services and assistance to another 2,500 refugees and asylees. 

SCOPE OF DATA ANALYSIS INTERN WORK: 
The Data Analysis Intern will report to the Grant Compliance and Data Coordinator and work closely with programs to help streamline data from multiple platforms and reports into user-friendly dashboards using Power BI and other platforms. This role also includes reviewing key documents and agreements to support compliance with organizational and donor requirements. 
 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 

Gain hands-on experience with data visualization tools, especially Power BI. 
Learn how data supports decision-making in international humanitarian programs.  Understand compliance frameworks and documentation review processes in a non- profit context.  Develop problem-solving and communication skills within a global, multicultural organization. 

RESPONSIBILITES: The Data Analysis intern will assist case managers with the 

following tasks: 

Collect, organize, and consolidate data from various sources (e.g., internal databases, Excel sheets, program reports).  Design and maintain clear, intuitive dashboards in Power BI to support internal monitoring and decision-making.  Support data cleaning and transformation to ensure accuracy and usability.  Review grant agreements, partnership documents, and reports for completeness and compliance with IRC and donor policies.  Assist in identifying inconsistencies or gaps in data and documentation.  Collaborate with team members to improve reporting processes and standardize data management practices.  Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to ongoing projects.  Minimum Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Current student or recent graduate in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, International Development, or a related field.  Experience with Microsoft Excel and Power BI required (intermediate to advanced level).  Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.  Excellent written and verbal communication.  Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.  Interest in humanitarian work and IRC’s mission. 

REQUIREMENTS: 

Experience working with large data sets or multiple data sources.  Familiarity with compliance or grant management is a plus.  Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote or hybrid setting. 

This will be an in-person role. This position will report to the Resettlement Casework Supervisor. 

The internship will be filled on a rolling basis. We will continue to accept applications until August 8th, 2025, or until the position is filled, whichever occurs first. Internship will begin the week of September 8th, 2025

This position will report to the Data Analysis Supervisor.
