Factory Manager
Job Title: Factory Manager – Rubber Processing
Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
Reporting to: General Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Purpose:
The Factory Manager – Rubber is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the rubber processing facility, ensuring that production targets, quality standards, safety protocols, and cost-efficiency goals are consistently met. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in rubber processing (e.g., latex concentrate, block rubber/SMR), and a commitment to continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Management Lead and supervise all factory operations including receiving of raw material, processing, packing, and dispatch of finished rubber products (e.g., SMR, latex concentrate). Monitor daily output to ensure productivity and efficiency in line with production plans. Implement process improvements to enhance product quality and reduce downtime or waste. 2. Quality Control & Compliance Ensure all products meet quality specifications and industry standards (e.g., MS ISO 2000 series, SMR grades). Liaise with Quality Assurance team to maintain certification standards and manage quality audits. Oversee lab testing, sampling, and product grading processes. 3. Maintenance & Asset Management Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of factory machinery and infrastructure. Ensure optimal equipment uptime and effective utilization of all plant resources. Coordinate with engineering teams for installation or upgrades of equipment. 4. Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Enforce compliance with workplace safety regulations and environmental policies. Conduct regular safety drills, risk assessments, and ensure staff training on SOPs and emergency procedures. Maintain proper documentation for inspections, audits, and licenses. 5. Workforce Management Lead, train, and manage factory personnel including supervisors, technicians, and operators. Plan manpower schedules and manage shift arrangements to meet production demands. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning. 6. Cost & Inventory Control Monitor operating costs and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety. Manage raw material inventory, stock control, and waste disposal in collaboration with procurement and warehouse teams. 7. Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement Prepare and present reports on production performance, downtime, quality issues, and cost variance. Work closely with the plantation team, head office, and external parties such as auditors or government agencies. 8. Others Other ad hoc matters as may be required from time to time.
Requirements:
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field. Additional certifications in rubber processing, quality systems, or occupational safety are an advantage. Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of experience in rubber processing operations with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role. Experience in managing latex concentrate, block rubber (SMR), or related products is essential. Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Good understanding of processing equipment, automation, and production workflows. Familiar with ISO, SIRIM, DOE, and DOSH regulatory requirements. Proficient in factory-related software and Microsoft Office applications. Able to communicate effectively in both Bahasa Malaysia and English. Other: Willing to be based at or near the factory site. Must be able to work extended hours or on shifts when necessary.
