Job Description:
Summary/Objective:
The Factory Controls Engineer develops technical & design specifications and oversee the implementation of new equipment to ensure the business unit’s requirements are met and follow the company’s standards. The engineer will support operations’ maintenance, quality, and production personnel in the troubleshooting of functional problems and guide maintenance activities to eliminate functionality issues of equipment and systems throughout the entire company, including worldwide facilities. The engineer will design and guide installation activities to retrofit and improve functionality of existing equipment and systems. The engineer will assist in specifying subassembly and assembly equipment.
Essential Functions:
Review and update system specifications to ensure that new equipment meets business requirements.Review machine quotes, prints, approval drawings, and control logic programming to ensure adherence to specifications and process requirements.Participate in equipment build process and runoffs to ensure proper system function and adherence to specifications.Develop, procure, implement, and support system infrastructure that will be used to communicate between factory floor equipment and business systems.Support the training of operations’ maintenance, quality, and production personnel responsible for supporting equipment.Support continuous improvement activities within the assembly and test processes.Investigate system trends and suggest modifications that provide business benefit.Education:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience required.
Required:
Experience with Allen-Bradley PAC/PLC control systems.Experience with programming of Allen-Bradley HMIs.Experience with device communication networks including Allen-Bradley DH+, DeviceNet, RIO, Ethernet IP, etc.Experience with the development, implementation, and support of industrial control systems that perform control, monitoring, data acquisition, logging, and alarming functions.Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, both in troubleshooting and design.Project management skills and experience involving complex projects.Experience monitoring & controlling capital budgets.Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot any controls system when required, regardless of having prior knowledge or experience.Willingness to work occasional weekends and holidays as project work requires.Willingness to be on call on a rotational basis.Preferred:
2 years of experience within manufacturing.Experience with drive systems, specifically Allen-Bradley.Experience with Allen-Bradley/Cisco industrial networking.Experience with Fanuc robotics programming.Experience with vision systems used in assembly process.Experience with electric nutrunner fastening systems, specifically Atlas Copco.RFID system experience, specifically Balluff.Knowledge of best practices in automotive and equipment manufacturing.Familiar with lean manufacturing principles for machining and assembly operations.
