Primary purpose:

Kinder Morgan is currently seeking a Facility Engineer to manage a diverse range of activities spanning civil, structural, mechanical and regulatory fields at our LNG facility in Savannah, Georgia. The position requires broad knowledge and experience in planning and executing projects across these disciplines. Qualified applicants must possess proven planning, project management and problem-solving skills, broad, practical field experience in the oil and gas facility and construction industries, flexibility in meeting changing priorities, and requires close collaboration with Kinder Morgan engineering, operations and maintenance departments, third party contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders, to ensure safe and reliable facility operations.

Management of the dredging of LNG marine vessel maneuvering area and dredged material containment areas:

Manage a dredging operation and a civil works operation at a large dredge spoils containment areaManage bathymetric surveysManage dredging contractors (day dredge and large dredge (as needed)Keeping current record of dredging costs and forecast (Dredge Tracker)Pursuing possible alternative dredging options (direct injection, drag-bar, etc).Manage usage of several containment basins (over 600 acres)Manage DMCA contractor reclaiming dredge materials for use in building up dikes (approx. $2MM annually)Usage of HYPACK and bathymetric surveying softwareActivities coordinated with geotechnical consultantsInteract with the US Army Corps of Engineers and other regulatory entitiesProvide cost forecasts and budget updates to management

General Facility Engineering Duties:

Perform periodic foundation elevation surveys and bridge inspections based on current ASME standards and submit compliance reports to regulating authority. Includes elevation (settlement) surveys for storage tank foundations, major equipment, docks, storm surge wall, and LNG tank containment dikes (FERC compliance)Manage LNG trenches accidentally contaminated ditches & storm water ditch maintenance programAddress structure settlement issues caused by soil subsidenceAddress building repair needs (roof repairs, Admin Bldg. HVAC modernization, …)Manage and oversee third party bridge inspectionsManage plant road repairs and improvementsMaintain a shoreline on the main shipping channel and mitigate against erosionPerform ship-to-shore compatibility studies and mooring for vessels calling on the terminalPlan and manage capital projects such as the retrofit of LNG dock dry chemical fire suppression systemsManage various marine, civil, and infrastructure capital projectsDesign and implement safety access improvementsWrite and review specifications for best practices

Position Requirements

Position Requirements:      
B.S. in an engineering discipline is required.

Experience / Specific Knowledge:

A minimum of seven years in the field management of civil and/or marine construction projects or Oil & Gas facility maintenance management including responsibility for planning and managing multiple diverse projects simultaneously including budget creation for the year ahead and forecasting cost at completion for ongoing projects

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Must possess a valid driver's license and meet company insurability requirementsMust hold or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card

Competencies, Skills, and Abilities:

Computer skills (competent in MS Office, various operating systems, and other company software)Thorough knowledge of civil and mechanical maintenance and repair principles and their application in an operating facilityWorking knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and standards:Proficiency in HYPACK and bathymetric surveying softwareProficiency in Maximo database software (work order management)Good verbal and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills and customer focusAbility to work with a team, take direction from management, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rulesStrong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, forecasting, and budgetingAbility to speak and understand EnglishMust be a U.S. citizen

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Work is primarily performed in an industrial plant environment with exposure to potentially extreme weather conditionsAbility to climb and work from elevated platforms, ladders, walkways, and enter confined spacesMust be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment including fire-resistant clothing and hearing protectionMay work in low-lit areasOccasional travel will be required. Travel will vary depending upon business needsBe available for shift work when applicableMust respond to and address callouts and emergencies after regular business hours including after dark hours, which may require carrying a communication device.
