Facilities Engineer - MTS

Position Overview

Responsible for end-to-end management of facilities for a high-profile client portfolio, including Australian Defense facilities and MTS team. This role requires a strong engineering background, leadership in managing both hard and soft services, and the ability to oversee daily operations, preventive maintenance, repairs, compliance, and vendor performance. This position requires the candidate to provide round-the-clock support services, maintaining availability 24 hours a day to address urgent operational needs. The role holder must be prepared to receive and respond to emergency calls at any time, day or night, and possess the ability to quickly coordinate with technical teams to resolve issues efficiently. The position also demands strong stakeholder engagement, reporting, and the ability to adapt to ad hoc account needs while leveraging technology such as CMMS (Corrigo) for operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities & Operations Management

• Lead the full scope of facility operations covering hard services (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, mechanical systems) and soft services (cleaning, security, landscaping, pest control, waste management).

• Ensure efficient delivery of preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance, and asset lifecycle management in line with statutory, regulatory, and client requirements.

• Manage and monitor work order systems via CMMS (Corrigo) to ensure timely closure of requests, accurate reporting, and proactive performance tracking.

• Oversee facility readiness for all inspections, audits, and certifications, ensuring continuous compliance.

Technical & Engineering Leadership

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing engineering expertise for system optimization and reliability.

• Plan and implement system upgrades, retrofits, and energy efficiency projects.

• Monitor and optimize BMS/EMS systems, ensuring resilience, redundancy, and uptime.

• Ensure health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards are embedded in all activities.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

• Act as the primary liaison with Australian Defense and other client stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring service excellence.

• Conduct regular stakeholder meetings, Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), and operational updates.

• Manage vendor performance, service level agreements (SLAs), and key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Handle escalations, negotiations, and dispute resolution in a professional manner.

Strategic & Ad Hoc Responsibilities

• Support and manage ad hoc or auditioned accounts that require rapid deployment of engineering and facilities support.

• Prepare and manage financial budgets, FM service contracts, and project quotations (FS, AMC, and ad hoc jobs).

• Identify and implement best practices, innovation, and technology solutions to drive operational efficiency.

• Lead business continuity planning and emergency response procedures. Maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent) or related field.

• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in facilities management, with exposure to large-scale or defence-related facilities.

• Proven track record in managing both hard & soft services at a managerial or senior engineering level.

• Strong knowledge of CMMS (Corrigo preferred), BMS/EMS, and relevant building codes and regulations.

• Demonstrated stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead meetings, prepare reports, and manage client expectations.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills. Working Conditions

• Based primarily at client facilities with occasional regional travel as required.

• Flexibility to support operations during evenings/weekends for critical issues or client needs.

• Ability to work across office, industrial, and mission-critical environments.
