Job Title: Plant Facilities Technician
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Overview:
The Facilities Technicians are a critical contributor in a mission that truly represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join a company that is making significant investments in establishing US manufacturing, expanding internationally, and delivering a consistent cadence of product innovations to the market and investing in its people.
Our plant facility systems are vital to keep our people and customers safe, protecting the environment, and keeping manufacturing operations running without interruption. The plant facilities manager, Senior Facilities Techs, and Facility Techs provide 24/7 coverage to monitor, maintain, and improve the plant facility systems. Plant systems consist of Fire Protection, Chillers, Cooling towers, Air Compressors, Hot water boilers, Steam boilers, Electrical switchgear, Solar panels, UPS systems, Generators, Pumps, Valves, Motors, etc. Manufacturing is contained in ISO-8 clean room and is operated following cGMP regulations. Our assets are maintained using a combination of Insulet resources and outside contractors managed by the Facilities team.
Facilities Technician Responsibilities:
Maintain a cGMP compliant environment and operate within FDA guidelines for 21CFR820 manufacturing.Diagnose and repair breakdowns, execute preventative maintenance tasks, and manage contractors to meet all standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. These tasks must be completed under minimal supervision.Manage pest control contractors and clean room cleaning contractors, verify they are following established procedures.Follow all policies and procedures including safety and quality standards.Monitor systems performance via our BMS software to anticipate issues and respond quickly to alarms and warnings.Diagnose and repair HVAC equipment, air compressors, minor electrical issues, piping systems, pumps, motors, etc.Conduct planned inspections of fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, AED stations, spill containment kits, as well as first responder and first aid kits.Document all planned and unplanned work in our maintenance management system.Develop maintenance plans including work instructions and schedules in SAP.Miscellaneous duties include, but are not limited to, furniture moves, basic electrical work, basic plumbing work, painting, cleaning, carpentry, waste handling, and keeping facility spaces organized and clean. This is a hands-on role.Business needs may require weekend, holiday, and off hours support for planned shutdown activities.Education and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or GED3+ years of experience in facilities support roleKnowledge in: Mechanical Systems, Electrical Theory and Troubleshooting, Plumbing and Piping, Compressed Air Systems, and minor carpentry.Written and verbal English communication skills.Computer skills and use of MS Office applications.Proficient at troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues.Preferred Skills and Competencies:
Certification(s) in specific equipment maintenance and diagnostics1+ years of experience in a GMP manufacturing facilityMassachusetts State License: Electrician, PipefitterExperience reading and understanding P&ID drawings, electrical prints, and construction drawings.Demonstrated ability to work hands-on and desire to interact with equipment and learn mechanical skills.Familiar with typical sensors on automated equipment including temperature, pressure, flow, etc.Self-starter capable of dealing with a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.Flexibility, the facilities technician will be asked to perform a wide variety of tasksPhysical Requirements (if applicable):
